Muir's co-workers took us out for lunch in on our last day in India. I forget the name of the restaurant, but we sat in the darkest dining room ever which had been decorated to look like the inside of a cave. The food was ok, mostly northern Indian and Pakistani(?) I think due to the large proportion of meat dishes on the menu.

When we flew out of the Bangalore airport I notice how heightened the security was compared to airports in China or even the U.S. Armed soldiers in fatigues walked in groups around the airport. The airport is built in a two-level lofted style so that passengers de-planing from arriving flights walk above departing passengers on plexi-glass enclosed catwalks. Some of the soldiers were posted on the upper level keeping an eye on the bottom level. I guess with the proximity to unfriendly factions and the very real threat of violence so close, I can understand why. Muir and I were also questioned at immigration (both coming in and going out), I was questioned going through the separate women's screening line, and our passports were checked like four times after check-in before we boarded the plane. It was a little tense, but I'm glad that India seemed to be serious about safety.
